What are GLP-1 medications?

GLP-1 medications act on signals involved in appetite, fullness, digestion, and blood sugar. Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor; tirzepatide acts on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. They are prescription medications, and a licensed provider determines whether either option is appropriate for you.

How do I take my medication?

The compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide offered through Meri Health are injected under the skin once weekly, exactly as prescribed. Use only the dose and injection instructions on your pharmacy label and from your care team, rotate injection sites as directed, and never change your dose on your own.

What if I miss a dose?

Do not take an extra dose or guess. Missed-dose directions differ by medication and may depend on your prescribed formulation. Follow the instructions on your pharmacy label, or contact your provider or dispensing pharmacy before your next injection if you are unsure.

How should I store my medication?

Follow the storage and handling instructions on the dispensing pharmacy's label and package because compounded formulations can have different requirements. If the medication was frozen, overheated, damaged, or left out longer than directed, contact the pharmacy or Meri care team before using it.

When should I take my dose?

Take it once weekly on the day directed by your provider and pharmacy label. Follow the label for timing and any instructions about changing your weekly dosing day; contact your care team before changing your schedule if you are unsure.

Can I continue my current dose if I am switching from another provider?

Your new provider must review the exact medication, concentration, dose, timing, side effects, and how long you have used it before choosing your Meri Health plan. Do not match concentrations or continue, skip, or increase a dose on your own; compounded products can differ even when the active ingredient has the same name.
